Roughly 40 people enjoyed a cool (but not freezing cold) Turkey Day in the woods this year. The food was
wonderful, as were the conversations with old friends. Several of us spent the night, and we sure had a lot laughs
as we ate s'mores around the warm campfire.
The beautiful engravings on the inside of these pine bark chips were most likely created by the
Ips Engraver Beetle. Unlike
the dreaded Southern Pine Beetle, the Engraver Beetle is usually relatively harmless - until the
pine trees become stressed from a prolonged drought, which we are currently in. So we need to keep
an eye on these critters.
